Dark skies and good times
Want to capture some astrophotography? Then bring your camera and we’ll throw it on the ‘scope to do just that. Want some tips on how to capture nightscapes? Your host, Scott Lange, has been shooting nighttime photography for over 10 years and is happy to help! Don’t have a fancy camera? Well, we even have an adapter that will turn your smartphone into a astrophotography machine for some brighter objects such as the moon or Saturn. Or, we can use our DSLR camera to demonstrate how it’s done. Want to just enjoy the starry night and not take any pictures at all? That’s fine too!

If you’d like to rent the whole place out for your group for a birthday party or other special event - or, just because - then we can do that! The Eastern Sierra Observatory is an awesome setting to enjoy and party with friends!
It’s hard to beat the view from this ‘tub
You’ll love the accommodations in a spacey SHIFTPOD. Each pod can fit up to three adults comfortably on our memory foam cots, or, if you want to bring a small party, ditch the cots, and sleep on the floor — your ‘POD can hold even more. You can bring your own sleeping bag and pillow, or, we can provide bedding for you. We can customize a visit to meet your needs.

As an added bonus, if you like cool rocks made from stardust, you’ll be happy to hear that the Eastern Sierra Observatory is located at the site of an old gold mine. There are interesting rocks all over the place, and you’re free to take some of your favorites home with you if you want.
