Join us for the Perseid Meteor Shower — the premier astronomical event of the summer known for producing streaking fireballs at a rate of up to 100 meteors per hour! This year the Perseids will peak during a new moon, meaning the darkest of skies, and the best viewing conditions!

Every reservation is for one SHIFTPOD for up to two people (or two adults and two kids for the Family Night of August 14th), and includes our unique stargazing experience featuring a huge telescope operated for you by our host, the galaxy-lit SHIFTPOD accommodations with two padded cots, a huge grill and griddle for your cooking needs, pool table, giant chess set, and amazing views of the Eastern Sierra! You’ll also be able to download the objects we view through the telescope straight to your smartphone!

Did we mention we have extra comfy zero gravity chairs, which fully recline and make looking up at the cosmos and meteor shower overhead an extra joy? Well, we do! 🤩

If you’re booking a Family Night, you’ll want to bring the kids sleeping pads/bags for the floor of your SHIFTPOD, as there are only two padded cots inside.

A Unique Stargazing Experience!

Also included with every reservation are two free Perseids T-Shirts as well as one Dark Sky Ticket — which is good for entry to any of our Dark Sky Festivals or Meteor Shower Parties which take place in Panamint Valley, CA and Sage Valley, NV. You’ll receive one Dark Sky Ticket for every night booked during these dates! You can always find those upcoming happenings on our Events Page.

The peak of the shower happens on August 12th, but don’t be fooled — many times it’s one or two nights before or after that date which ends up being the “best” night. The good news is that usually all the nights around the peak are great, so don’t fret too much about which night(s) to choose — you’ve just got to make sure you’re looking up, and our zero-gravity chairs will help with that!

Please note that ALL SALES ARE FINAL AND THERE ARE NO REFUNDS. No changes can be made to this reservation. Cancellations and no-shows will be afforded a 50% credit towards any of our future Panamint Valley, CA or Sage Valley, NV Dark Sky Festivals or Meteor Shower Parties. You are also welcome to transfer/give away/sell your reservation if you cannot attend. If the Eastern Sierra Observatory has to cancel your visit for some crazy reason (due to weather for example), then you will be afforded a 100% credit towards a future observatory visit or event.
