SHIFTPOD - The best camp shelter in the Universe
SHIFTPOD… spacious, sturdy, easy to set up/take down, and just plain looks cool!
At the Eastern Sierra Observatory, we use high quality SHIFTPOD shelters to accommodate our guests. The reflective, insulated nature of the SHIFTPOD make it a perfect fit for our Mars-like location near Bishop, California, where summertime temperatures can break 100 degrees Fahrenheit, as well as during winter when overnight lows can dip below freezing. The SHIFTPOD is designed to stay cooler when it’s hot, and warmer when it’s cold, and it’s even equipped with proper vent ports to attach an external air conditioning unit or heater if desired.
While the outside looks spacey, the inside is spacey! The SHIFTPOD is a spacious 12 x 12 x 6.7 feet when standing, and folds down to 13 x 13 x 76 inches when stowed. What’s even better is how quickly it can be set up or taken down — one person can easily do the task in literally 2 or 3 minutes aside from hammering in the stakes. The world record time for setting up a SHIFTPOD is just 22 seconds!
Despite being so easily set up and taken down, the SHIFTPOD is amazingly strong — withstanding wind speeds over 100 mph! It truly is the structure of all portable structures! If you enjoy camping in comfort and style, then we highly recommend getting yourself a SHIFTPOD. It won’t be the least expensive tent or shelter that you’ve ever bought, but we bet it will be the last one as these things will basically last forever!
No matter what season it is, the SHIFTPOD holds up in all weather
At the ESO, we’ve had a SHIFTPOD which has been standing since August, 2018 — directly under the intense sun and sometimes unforgiving winds coming up the mountain from the Owens Valley. Despite being subjected to the elements 24/7, the structure shows little to no signs of wear. Just keep the zippers lubed and tension the guy-lines from time to time and you’re set! It’s amazing that this thing can take the cake in both set up/take down time as well as structural integrity - not to mention apperance - these things look awesome!
